The little things in life, such as a baby's smile or a child's laughter or even a simple hug from the significant other are things that make life enjoyable. For me, it's when N smiles while we're "playing" or when L tells me how much she loves me or even when J decided to randomly pop into the pharmacy to give me a treat. What are the things that make you happy? It can be big or small and it doesn't matter if it costs money or not.
Having two children is quite rewarding. Tiring but rewarding. People say "Oh, you're too young to have children, let alone two!" or even "YOU HAVE KIDS?!" But when you think about it, even just 40-50 years ago, our grandparents had kids when they were my age. It's only been one generation since and now we're saying early/mid twenties are too early for kids. However, for some, having kids later in life is just as good. They're financial stable and have a set career before. For J and I, we were sort of both finishing school but luckily for both of us, we had jobs lined up after we finished so not a big deal. We also had some awesome parents to support us and help us out. The little things in life.
As I type this, my son is sleeping, my daughter is sleeping and so is my wife. To see them all peaceful and relaxing is a joy and I love watching them sleep. Creeper much? Ha ha, but it's nice to know that your tiny family of four is close and everyone loves each other so much.
As a parent, we try to be stern with L but at the same time have a little fun. For incidence, tonight we had some homemade chicken pot pie and cauliflower/broccoli mix. L decided that she HATES vegetables. Needless to say, this did NOT fly with us. She also learnt to somehow throw food that she does not like on the ground. She got in A LOT of trouble for doing that and almost got her dinner taken away. Oops, correction, she got it taken away and then she apologized and all was better in the household.
It's things like that, that want you to pull your hair out. Especially when you have a two year old running her mouth like that. I'm sure when N is older, he'll be just the same. But then you have moments like when L decided to sing "The wheels on the bus" for a good 10 minutes while changing the lyrics to whatever she wanted (example, The Daddy's on the bus says "I love you") it's complete worth it.
I hope everyone that reads this blog will one day have children and experience all of this and more. =)
